::he trod a path that few have trod

So after a very long day on thursday, we cast Sweeney Todd. We had auditions from 4-7, discussed call-backs until 9, I had to go to the budget hearing at 10, had call-backs from 10:30-12, and then cast the show from 12-1. So considering I also had classes on thursday, it was a huge day. But a lot of fun.
We ended up casting Stew, the guy from the last entry, as Sweeney Todd. He decided not to audition for the faculty directed show, so that he could be Sweeney. He's going to be amazing.
Oddly enough, although only 6 guys auditioned (and 7 came to call backs, go figure), the guys with very few exceptions were way better than the girls who tried out. In fact, none of the girls who signed up were good enough to sing the role Johanna, so we had to ask our assistant director to audition. All of the guys really blew me away, and I think I fell slightly in love with all of them ;-)
Callbacks were really fun though. At first it took a while to get everyone organized, but once we started the reading, I think everyone had a great time. We most enjoyed having them read uncomfortable scenes. The one when the crazy beggar woman, shrieks and grabs this guys crotch, was only topped by the one in which the lecherous judge proposes to his own adopted daughter...eew. There are creepy guys in this show.
