so guess what! i'm going to be giving a voice recital this spring (as long as I dont' fail my hearing in april). I'm really excited about it. on friday i had my jury which was rather nerve-wracking. I had to advance or else I wouldn't be able to give a recital. I really didn't think I would pass, but apparently the panel was completely unanimous that I should! So now i'm trying to pick out my pieces. It's pretty much set: 3 selections from Mozart's Marriage of Figaro, 2 Fauré pieces, 2 Schubert pieces, 2 Sondheim pieces and a final piece. It's the final one that I'm not sure about. It has to be a lively upbeat thing. In Andrea's recital she sang "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. I'm really not sure what I'd like to do, something funny probably. Any suggestions?
The whole thing is going to be a lot of work, but I'm really looking forward to it. There's a hearing two weeks before the recital where all the music faculty will have me sing selections and critique me on it. That will also be kind of scary, but hopefully I'll be very prepared. It's also not going to be cheap because I'll have to pay my own accompanist because I'm not a music major. Oh well, I think it will be well worth it.
